The Youth Affairs Office in Homs, in cooperation with the “Violet” organization, held a dialogue session on Wednesday focusing on ways to empower young people and strengthen their role in community development. The session comes as part of ongoing efforts to support active youth participation across various fields.

Encouraging Constructive Engagement and Volunteerism

Held under the title “Community Participation and Youth”, the session emphasized the importance of promoting a culture of constructive work and volunteerism, while encouraging young people to launch initiatives that contribute to positive change. Mohammad Jabr, Director of the Youth Affairs Office, stated that the session highlighted the need to integrate youth into both political and social structures, and to guide their energy toward sectors that require their skills and contributions. He added that the office is committed to attracting innovative initiatives that reflect the vital role of youth in the post‑liberation phase and support their involvement in community-building.

Experiences in Youth Support and Leadership Development

Baybars Jandiyah, Director of Emergency and Disaster Management in Homs, reviewed the ministry’s experience in supporting and training youth during and after the Syrian crisis. He stressed the importance of empowering young people to become active and influential members of their local communities, strengthening institutional work, and equipping them with leadership skills essential for personal development.

Opening Channels Between Youth and Decision-Makers

Ward Al‑Ahmad, Community Project Officer at “Violet,” emphasized the value of such sessions in creating direct communication channels between youth and decision-makers concerned with their issues. She noted that these activities enhance young people’s dialogue skills and prepare them to participate effectively in decision-making processes that impact their lives and communities.
